Three Points in Buying Used Caravan Awnings
Used caravan awnings are a great way to save money, and still enjoy a great holiday but it should not be a purchase that’s taken lightly or quickly. New caravan awnings are an expensive outlay and when upgrading to a newer model or changing your caravan awning because it no longer fits your caravan, you still want to get as much money for it as possible. This makes the market of pre-owned, pre-loved or just used caravan awnings such a huge place. Before buying any used caravan awning you need to get a few things straight and consider the next three points before you even start to look used caravan awnings.
1. Why do you NEED a caravan awning? May people enjoy caravanning without the need to ever buy an awning, so do you actually NEED an awning or just want one. The most common reason for caravanners buying awnings is to have extra space for lounging about in, or an extra sleeping area for children while on holiday. They are also useful if the weather turns bad and you want to still sit out side protected from the rain or for somewhere to dry those wet clothes.
If however you’re looking to mainly set off just for weekend breaks the hassle of erecting and tacking down a full size awning can be a bit of a chore. If you are after something just for the weekend you’ll want to look for something that is a lot easier to put up and take down but still extend your outside space, like a porch awning or even just a door waning. Full size awnings are an ideal purchase to those people who want to park their caravan permanently at one site, or take week long holidays just lounging about.
2. How much can you save buy a used awning? As a new purchase caravan awnings can be expensive especially when just starting out with your first caravan. Saving money on extras like the awning is an easy way to increase your outside space but how much to spend? The amount you will save on buying a used caravan awning will depend a lot on the make and model obviously but maybe not so obvious will be the time of year you buy it. In the UK caravanning is an all year round past time but for holiday makers the main season runs from about Easter to September or October. It’s during this time you’ll most likely get a huge variety of choice but the prices may be slightly inflated, do you think you’re the only one looking for a bargain? Outside the season you will probably still find used awnings for sale but not as many but there will not be as many buyers and a better chance of a bargain maybe.
3. Where should you buy a used caravan awning? So you’ve decided that you need one and you know how much you want to spend you need to find one to buy. There are three main sources you should consider when buying used caravan awnings. The most obvious place is from other caravanners that you spend time on holiday with but driving a bargain from your friends can sometimes be hard, but then again you will probably know the history of the awning and the care that has been taken of it before you buy it.
Your local caravan dealer would be another place to look but remember he wants a profit from everything he sells so maybe not the most reasonable place, but you may have some type of returns guarantee with it. The third place would be eBay, where the biggest advantage is you that have control over how much you want to spend, the type of used caravan awning you want to buy and the ability of grabbing a bargain.
